PATIENT INFORMATION ON DATA PROTECTION (GDPR) MAY 2018

We need to hold your personal information about you on our records in order for us to look after your health needs. Your Doctor is responsible for their accuracy and safekeeping. Doctors and staff have access to your medical records in order to allow them to do their jobs. Information is only ever shared with other Doctors / Consultants or Practitioners when you are being referred by your Doctor at Moore Medical Practice to elsewhere.

In extreme circumstances we can be ordered by law to release your data in cases of public health issues or if a court order is presented. You will be asked for consent before information is released for medical reports for insurance, solicitors etc.

To ensure privacy we will not disclose any information over the phone, fax, or email unless we are certain it is you were are talking to. If you would rather we didn’t email you, please ask the receptionist to remove your address from our system.

We have made the decision not to encrypt emails due to the cumbersome nature of the available systems and our concern that important emails will remain unopened and unread. Information will not be disclosed to family, friends or spouses without your express permission. You have the right to see your records if you wish.

We use a clinical computer system called Practice Manager (DGL Helix Health) which is fully compliant with all GDPR and safety requirements and your information is backed up and stored by our IT provider Ameris, who store the information safely offsite.
